How Much Does a Roof Replacement Cost in Fort Wayne?
The short answer: Our average roof replacement in the Fort Wayne area is about $10,000. Your price depends on your roof, mainly its size, pitch, how many layers come off, the condition of the decking, ventilation, the shingle line you pick and whether you add gutters. We don't ask for money down, financing is available, and most of our roofs are torn off and installed in one day.
The short version:
- Our average: about $10,000 for a roof replacement. It's an average, not a quote. Your roof may land above or below it.
- Biggest price drivers: roof size and pitch, followed by tear-off layers, decking and the shingle line you choose.
- No money down. Financing is available.
- Warranties: Owens Corning's Limited Lifetime shingle warranty, our standard 5-year workmanship warranty, and an optional 10-year workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning for an additional cost.

We're a family-owned roofing company, replacing roofs around Fort Wayne since 2012. Cost is the first question nearly everyone asks. Here's how pricing works on our jobs, so you know what you're paying for before anyone climbs a ladder.
What's the average cost of a new roof in Fort Wayne?
Across the roof replacements we do, the average comes out to about $10,000. That number covers a wide mix of homes: small ranches, big two-stories, homes with detached garages, and roofs that needed new decking.
An average is a starting point, not a price tag. Two houses on the same street can be quoted very differently if one roof is twice the size, steeper or hiding soft decking under two layers of old shingles. That's why we measure every roof and put each item on a written quote.

What makes a roof cost more or less?
These are the factors that move the price on our quotes, roughly in order of how much they matter.
1. Roof size. This is the biggest factor. Roofers measure in squares, and one square is 100 square feet of roof surface. A bigger roof needs more shingles, more underlayment and more labor. The roof area is always larger than your home's floor area, because of overhangs and slope.
2. Pitch (steepness). A steep roof takes longer to work on safely and needs more safety setup. A low, walkable ranch roof usually costs less to install than a steep two-story roof of the same size.
3. How many layers come off. We tear every roof down to the deck. If there are two layers of old shingles instead of one, there's more labor and more disposal.
4. Decking condition. Nobody can see the wood under the shingles until the tear-off. If boards or sheets are soft or damaged, they have to be replaced before the new roof goes on. Sometimes that's a few sheets, and sometimes the whole deck. We'll tell you up front how decking is handled on your quote.
5. Ventilation. A roof needs balanced intake and exhaust airflow through the attic. If your home needs ridge vent or other ventilation updates, that's part of the job and part of the price. It's also part of installing the shingles the way the manufacturer requires.
6. Shingle line. We install mostly Owens Corning Duration shingles, plus Oakridge and many other brands. Different lines are priced differently. Our Duration vs Oakridge guide explains what you get with each.
7. Roof complexity. Valleys, dormers, skylights, chimneys and multiple roof sections all add flashing work and cutting time. A simple gable roof is the least expensive shape.
8. Gutters and extras. Many homeowners replace gutters together with the roof. New seamless gutters, downspouts and guards are a separate line on the quote, so you can decide on them.

What's included in our roof replacement price?
Every quote we write spells out the scope, so you can compare it with anyone else's. On a typical replacement, it covers:
- Tearing the old roof down to the deck
- The decking plan if bad wood turns up
- Underlayment and ice and water barrier
- Ventilation
- Flashing and drip edge
- Starter and ridge shingles
- Your chosen shingle line and color
- Cleanup and haul-away

Do you require money down? Is financing available?
We don't ask for money down. That's been our approach for years, and it means you aren't paying for a roof before any work has started.
Financing is available if you'd rather spread out the payments. You can see the options on our financing page, and we'll go over them at your estimate.

What warranty comes with a new roof?
There are two kinds of warranty on a new roof, and you should understand both before you sign:
- Shingle (manufacturer) warranty. Owens Corning shingles carry a Limited Lifetime warranty from Owens Corning. The actual warranty document spells out the details, limitations and requirements.
- Workmanship warranty. This covers the installation itself. Every roof we install comes with our standard 5-year workmanship warranty. For an additional cost, you can upgrade to a 10-year workmanship warranty backed by Owens Corning.
We'll explain both on your estimate, and your contract will list which one you chose.
How long does a roof replacement take?
Most of our roofs are torn off and installed in one day. Bigger or steeper roofs, or a full decking replacement, can add time. Even so, a full-deck job we posted in February 2024 was finished in a single day. We never leave a roof open. What comes off gets covered the same day.

What we see on Fort Wayne-area jobs
- Size and decking decide most of the gap between quotes. The big swings come from a larger roof, a second layer to tear off, or decking that needs replacing.
- Our biggest roofs still go on in a day. We've posted large Duration roofs that were finished in a single day.
- Gutters are a common add-on. Several of our recent jobs included new seamless gutters, downspouts and guards with the roof.
- Most homeowners choose Owens Corning Duration, and we're happy to price other lines next to it.
